Iconic

as a young lad, i was mesmerised by his super macho characters in those spagetti westerns introduced by my father. and then came his dirty hairy movies which apart from creating my awareness of the existence of naked women on celluloid, made him my idol.however, it was not until i saw ‘paint your wagon’, a musical with lee marvin that made me aware of his talent and that i genuinely liked him.  and then he began to direct excellent films. great films they were if not iconic. it started with Bird, a potrait of the jazz legend Charlie Parker. following that he made Unforgiven. and finally there was Million Dollar Baby. he weaves his movies like a jazz piece. technically proficient they are, yet it was filled with a lot of heart. he covers important issues without being didactic; without using any overdramatic devices.yet he covers them as if it were a conversation in the park; a casual after thought.  i once knew a film student in my second reincarnation as a university student who said that she doesnt like Eastwood because he is intense. frankly speaking, i have no idea what she was meant but knowing her, she probably didnt know what she was talking about either.  such is the opinion of a superficial person. intense it maybe but scheme the surface, probe deeper you would find that it is poetry in reel motion.  such is the feel whenever Clint Eastwood has a film made. that is the truth. not overstating nor understating it. just like a casual conversation in the park.Song of the Day: Paint Your Wagon by the Cast of Paint Your WagonFinger Acrobatics Performed by Avloomat @ 1400hrs
